The Different Types of Human Hair

Human hair is a valuable commodity, and there are many ways to sell it. The amount of hair needed for a hairpiece depends on the demand and the willingness to collect it. A year's worth of cultivation yields about four-and-a-half to six inches of hair, which is not enough for making wigs. A decent crop takes two years, and valuable lengths of 20 inches or more require four years of harvesting.

Hair is made up of the same materials as skin and nails. It starts at a base under the skin and develops into a bulb that supports the hair root and sebaceous gland. Then the hair shaft grows out from the root. The shaft is made up of overlapping flat cells called the cuticle. The follicle, or core, contains keratin and pigment cells. The cuticle, which is a tough outer layer, protects the hair strand and provides texture.

The density and texture of synthetic hair have improved dramatically in recent years. Some synthetic hairs feel almost identical to real human hair. Higher quality synthetic wigs can even look like human hair, which means they are ready to wear right out of the box. Synthetic hair fibers have a memory that retains curl, wave, and volume, so they bounce back into place with minimal effort. These properties make synthetic hair a popular choice for everyday wear.

Non-Remy hair is also available and cheaper than Remy. Non-Remy hair has been chemically stripped of its cuticle, which makes it brittle and easy to tangle. It's also prone to tangling, matting, and drying. If you have a budget, you can opt for this cheaper option. But if you want to invest more, you can also go for Remy hair.

While it's true that most wigs and extensions made of human hair come from China and India, the truth is that most of them come from those countries. The sad part is that only a small percentage of this hair is taken from temples. This raises ethical questions. As far as where the hair comes from, the region's minister of textiles and commerce said: "I don't know where it came from. Consumers just want their wigs to be hygienic."

Virgin hair is the purest form of human hair. It's obtained from young women who have hair that is longer than average, but is still healthy. It's collected from thick, long, full ponytails. And unlike other types of human hair, virgin hair does not require any chemical processing. This makes it the highest-quality product among all hair extensions. Virgin hair is also more expensive than Remy. So if you're looking for a wig that looks best on you, go for it!
